Early Voters Change Their Mind?

What happens if you vote early and then change your mind? Can you change your vote?

No. But what if you could? In the 2000 election some voters did get to change their mind. Military absentee voters who decided their vote was worth the trouble of voting got to send in their votes after the polls had closed and their votes were counted. They changed their mind because they found out that the Presidential election would be decide by the Florida election and that might turn on a few votes, possibly their votes. The unbiased election officials permitted the late votes because the election officials weren't unbiased.

So what's wrong with changing your mind, and changing your vote (apart from the fact that it's not possible and illegal). Some Ralph Nader voters in Florida may have decided that their vote would have been better place on their second choice candidate rather than accidentally permitting their third choice candidate to win. In a different universe, perhaps, some voters, inclined to support Nader, might have vote their second choice, to avoid 'wasting their vote', but would have wanted to change if Nader garnered enough support to give him a real chance.

What if Early Voting starting not a few days or weeks before the election, but month or years? To the extent that voters are influenced by the choices others make would it not be better to be influenced by millions of votes placed rather Polls based on few hundred phone calls?

What if you could “Early Vote” as early as the primaries? May be nominations would be decided based on who had the most votes – “early votes”, that is. Then you could change your early vote to the party's chosen nominee. Or you may be wouldn't. May be you would continue to vote for the person you actually wanted, rather than the person the party chose. Why can't you vote for whoever you want to vote for? Why can't you vote when you want to vote? And change your vote when you change your mind?
